The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards
Awarding Excellence in Office Building Management

 

A record five buildings were crowned TOBY winners in our local competition at our Awards Banquet at the Heinz History Center on October 11.

Office 100,000 to 250,000 sf:

Historic:  Frick Building

Medical:  Central Blood Bank, Five Parkway

The TOBY award is the most prestigious and comprehensive program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry, recognizing quality in office buildings and awarding excellence in office building management. Points are awarded for community involvement, tenant/employee relations, energy management, building standards and other factors that combine to set some buildings apart from their peers.

The competition consists of three levels of judging: Local, Regional, and National.

Awards are presented in the following categories:
Office Building Under 100,000 SF Corporate Facility
100,000 - 249,999 SF   Government Building
250,000 - 499,999 SF   Historical Building
500,000 to 1 million SF   Industrial Office Park
More than 1 million SF   Medical Office Building
Suburban Office Park (1-5 stories)   Renovated Building
Suburban Office Park (6-10 stories)

Local candidates are judged from May through August, with the local Awards Banquet held in October. Local winners will be sent on to the regional judging in December (Awards banquet in April), with regional winners competing for the national award in June (at the Convention).
